Anyone who knows Brian even a little bit knows that he loves music. Just the other day he made me the most EPIC bachelorette party playlist ever (thanks, love!) and, in fact, from the very beginning of our relationship, he made me the most incredible mix CDs, so it should come as no surprise that we had our wedding song selected long before we were even engaged. Actually — I don’t think we were even dating yet!
Let me explain. During the dull days at our first job together, we’d entertain each other with a little game. It was basically “ask a good ‘get-to-know-you’ question, then spend the afternoon meticulously crafting a response because I don’t know if you like me”. It was like middle school. It was amazing.
An answer to something like, “What are your three all-time favorite articles of clothing” could take 24 hours for each of us to develop, so when I asked, “What are the top 10 most played tracks on your iPod,” I didn’t wait with bated breath!
But when he replied with “The Luckiest” by Ben Folds on his list, my heart stopped. It was my favorite song and I was embarrassed to realize I’d been listening to it so much then because it reminded me of him. I still didn’t even know if he liked me!
Many, many, many questions later, the song has only grown more meaningful for us. It’s our perfect love song and we can’t wait to dance to it at our wedding.
