This audio made me laugh so hard though. One of my favorite things to do in my garden is propagate my favorite perennials. Free perennials!! But a garden is a living, breathing, ongoing project. You don’t just set it and forget it. I’m constantly testing and trialing and learning. And a lot of that learning comes at a price, whether it’s money spent on stuff I later change my mind about or something that doesn’t thrive, or maybe the scale is wrong on something like a butterfly bush. There is always something new and that is the fun of it. Keeping a garden is such an expression of hope. What else is there, right? You try something you think will work. You plant seeds. You care for it, and you pray that something beautiful comes from it. Hope is a thing with feathers, Emily Dickinson wrote. Well, for me, it’s a garden.

Definitely my kind of playground. Nevermind the kids, I could have spent hours in this place, it’s what little kid dreams are made of!!

Finally made it to @gardeninthewoods for Mother’s Day. We cut it a little close to the boys nap so they looked like zombie by the end here but it all went surprisingly smoothly, hiking in the woods with toddlers and a stroller. 🤣 but in all seriousness, this place was spectacularly beautiful and so very peaceful. I didn’t have much time to poke around shopping because everyone was melting down, but I left with a camera roll for of ideas for native New England species to add to our woodland area garden.

C was a whole vibe at school pickup today. I was in so much pain as the numbing medicine wore off from my cortisone injection but leave it to this theatrical little ham to have me in stitches laughing. She was feeling herself today and I love that for her. Sometimes I feel like she just belongs on a stage. Emilia too. It’s becoming harder and harder to encourage them to try new things though and step out of their comfort zones. It’s a tricky balance! You want to help them excel where their interests lead them, but the last thing you want is a kid screaming as you drop them at theatre camp. And that’s where we are beginning to head. If you have any tips on encouraging the willingness to try new things, I’m all ears. Summer activities are just around the corner.
