“If you stay ready, you never have to get ready.”
This Kim Kardashian-mantra sprang to mind as I packed up my makeup bag for a last-minute trip earlier this week.
I’ve been working to streamline my beauty routine to the simplest essentials and have really worked to take care of my skin so packing my makeup bag for a week-long trip was a breeze for a change.
Here’s what I threw in my cheapie little Forever 21 makeup pouch that I bought last week to keep in my purse:
1. Dr. Jart+ Beauty Balm
Still singing this product’s praises. Perfect all-in-one skin-perfecter with a high, broad-spectrum UVA/UVB SPF which I appreciate. I love space-saving, dual-purpose products for travel.
2. Mary Kay Timewise day solution
This is a day-time must for me under makeup because I swear it minimizes pores and smooths my skin like no other, plumping and perfecting. I’ll wear this alone or under my beauty balm daily.
3. Mary Kay Oil-free Hydrating Gel
My skin has been quite dry this winter but it’s still oily in spots, so gel moisturizer is a must for me. This sample is the perfect size for travel.
3. Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Hands down, my favorite bronzer ever. I feel like the box packaging really protects the product during travel too.
4. Benefit Posie Tint
Another multi-use product favorite. It’s a soft pink lip or cheek stain that builds amazingly well and gives a soft, rosy pink look that’s subtle and pretty and stays on all day.
5. Maybelline Colossal Volume in classic black
I’ll never understand paying over $5-6 for a mascara when amazing and affordable ones like this exist! Once in a while a splurge is nice, but I always have a Maybelline mascara.
6. Bobbi Brown lip gloss
This color is perfection for my coloring and the consistency has real staying power for a gloss. Travel can be draining so a little pop of color can really help brighten your whole face.
7. Forecast sunglasses
Sunglasses hide so much so I always have some on me, especially when traveling. In a pinch, I’ll throw them on in-flight to help block light for a quick nap too. I love the round shape of these ones especially.
So those are my current travel beauty essentials. I’ve been experiencing some pretty bad allergies so I’ve been chugging waters, sipping lots of tea and trying to eat lots of fruits, veggies and whole grains to keep my energy up and beautify from the inside out.
Nothing makes me feel worse while traveling then eating a bunch of crap!
What are some of your favorite beauty products for travel? I’d love to hear.
Hey Wendy! Do you ever search for your fav beauty and personal care products on EWG’s Skindeep website? I try not to purchase products that aren’t on that site or that ARE on the site but have high toxicity ratings. I think it’s so important to stay informed and know what you’re putting on your skin and letting absorb into your bloodstream! Anyways, I looked up the two following products because of your recommendations and they both have great ratings! I must try them out. Thanks so much, lady!
-Dr. Jart+ Renewalist BB Beauty Balm, SPF 40
-La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Dual Action Acne Treatment
I do! All the time! Do you know that I got INTO web design because I had that idea similar to the EWG website? I was so worried about overusing retinol and for other women to not know to use sunscreen when they use it, and also, what the damage might be for layering product over product to our bloodsteams that I thought it’d be a brilliant idea to have a website that warned of product dangers and such. EWG’s is pretty darn close. So glad you liked my picks. Honestly, I try to avoid anything that’s US-based. Anything overseas is going to have MUCH stricter standards for what’s safe for skin. It’s sad but I think the US will catch up one day.
