Christmas Cocktail Party

Each Christmas we like to host some sort of holiday party but this year the holiday kind of crept up on us. I think this was the latest we’ve ever decorated our tree. We’re a little worn out from hosting our “friendsgiving” and I spent most of November getting acclimated to a new job in Boston, so we opted for a simple cocktail party. I sent out invites using the incredible designs over at Paperless Post and planned to do a cheese platter, assorted crostini, and our signature champagne punch.
I think it was the easiest and most fun party-food we’ve EVER put together. Not to mention the most visually appealing display we’ve done. The cheese was a HUGE hit. I just used this guide from the Kitchn to put together a well-rounded assortment then headed to the store to see what looked best. Add a variety of grapes, olives, dried apricots and some sugared almonds and it was done.  I’ve never had so much fun coming up with crostini toppings either. I felt like a food chemist in the kitchen imagining up all kinds of different flavor combinations.
So this holiday season, here’s to simplifying!
